Airdrie Home and Lifestyle Show to return to Genesis Place April 29-30

The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is inviting community members back for the annual Airdrie Home & Lifestyle Show later this month.

Airdrie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marilyne Aalhus said the two-day event will take place on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Genesis Place Recreation Centre.

As Airdrie’s largest trade show with more than 200 vendors, the Home and Lifestyle Show allows attendees to engage with the local business community in a comprehensive way.

“It is a fantastic event to come learn from experts, of course shop, sample, and just really have a tremendous time connecting with our community and supporting local businesses and artisans throughout the weekend,” Aalhus said. “I think people will come away with a lot of businesses that they’ve never met before.”

Last year saw the return of the event after the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered it in 2020 and 2021. Aalhus said the chamber’s focus this year is to provide new experiences for visitors to engage with.

“The challenges have simply just been continuing with the momentum and starting to come up with some new fresh ideas,” she said.

One of those ideas is focusing on artists and craftspeople, providing them a high-traffic public place to showcase their work.

“We even have a makers’ market this year,” Aalhus said. “Artisans and handcrafted products that will really catch a lot of people’s eyes.”

As with previous iterations of the popular exhibition, the stage will offer attendees the opportunity to see live performers and take part in activities. Some of the performers on display will include magician Christopher Cool, Ambition Performing Arts, and Elements Dance Company.

Airdronians' favourite party animal, Allen the Alpaca, will also be on site to greet attendees.

Wanting to work with Airdrie-area businesses, the chamber-run exhibition provides local and regional vendors the ability to show off their work and interact with the community.

“It was an opportunity to bring them into the show and give them a great price point so that they can showcase some of their creations and some of their abilities,” Aalhus said, adding she feels the Airdrie Home & Lifestyle Show is important as it reflects the growth of the community.

“I genuinely feel we are such a vibrant, growing community and there’s just so many exciting new businesses coming into our city,” Aalhus said. “I think this is just the perfect place to get to know some of these businesses and continue to support them and to continue to shop local.”

The chamber exec concluded by saying attendees of the Airdrie Home and Lifestyle Show can look forward to having a weekend full of fun.

With this year’s show selling out of vendors, Aalhus is happy with the work they have been able to achieve.

“We’re very, very proud of our accomplishments,” she noted.
